3.pants. (1) Lielā valsts ģerboņa vairogs ir dalīts un pusskaldīts:
  1. - zilā laukā uzlecošas zelta saules puse,
  2. - sudraba laukā pretēji pagriezts sarkans lauva (Kurzeme, Zemgale),
  3. - sarkanā laukā sudraba grifs ar zelta mēli un sudraba zobenu labajā ķetnā (Vidzeme, Latgale).
Virs vairoga puslokā trīs zelta zvaigznes.
Vairoga turētāji - labajā pusē sarkans lauva ar zelta mēli, kreisajā pusē sudraba grifs ar zelta mēli - balstās uz diviem zaļiem ozola zariem, kas saņemti ar sarkansudrabsarkanu lenti valsts karoga krāsu samēros.

Wappen der Republik Lettland: Großes Staatswappen
Blasonierung „(1) Das große Wappen ist geteilt und halbgespalten:
1. In Blau eine aufgehende goldene Sonne,
2. In Silber ein roter Löwe (Kurland einschließlich Semgallen),
3. In Rot ein silberner Greif mit einem Schwert in der rechten Klaue (Livland und Lettgallen).
Über dem Schild in einem Halbkreis drei goldene Sterne.
Schildhalter: vorn ein goldgezungter roter Löwe, hinten ein goldgezungter silberner Greif - stehend auf zwei grünen Eichenzweigen, die verbunden sind durch ein Band in den Farben der lettischen Flagge“.
